DEPLOYMENT
 The Dell deployment can monitor virtually any device that your customer has, from simple up/down status for basic devices, to SNMP and detailed Windows characteristics. No agents are required to install on every monitored device – just install the SilverStreak probe on a customer’s Windows platform. The SilverStreak performs discovery so all the devices at that location can immediately be managed. The Dell Remote Monitoring platform uses a distributed management approach that gets around connectivity issues posed by firewalls and NAT. You deploy a SilverStreak proxy at each customer location, and the SilverStreak creates an SSL tunnel back to your main application – no VPN setup is required. The SilverStreak secure “tunnel” can be used for any kind of remote access, including Telnet, SSH, and Windows Terminal Services. This approach also substantially reduces WAN utilization caused by the monitoring itself. As your business grows you define your monitoring policies once rather than as each new device comes online, dramatically cutting down deployment time. |
