Policy Components

This report is critical in identifying how the targeted asset is being monitored, and is useful for validating that the targeted asset has been properly configured.

Unlike the Monitoring Policies report, this report identifies Thresholds and Event Monitors that target this asset, but are not included in a Monitoring Policy. It also includes items such as Scheduled Reports and Notification Rules which are not part of a standard Monitoring Policy.

Effective

The Effective option presents you with the current list of assets that are effectively managed by the selected Monitoring Policy as a result of being contained within a higher-level object that was explicitly selected when the policy was configured.

This report is useful for finding out exactly what assets are managed by a Monitoring Policy when you only know the higher-level object that was explicitly selected when the policy was configured.

The Selected option presents you with the current list of assets that are managed by the selected Monitoring Policy as a result of being explicitly selected when the policy was configured.

This report is useful for finding out exactly what assets are managed by a Monitoring Policy when you only know the name of the Monitoring Policy.

Excluded

The Excluded option presents you with the current list of assets that have been excluded from the selected Monitoring Policy.

This report is useful for tracking down assets that should have been included in a Monitoring Policy but were inadvertently excluded, yielding unexpected results.
