Enabling and Disabling Policies

You may wish to enable or disable a Monitoring Policy, Monitoring Policy Template, or Policy Component for any number of reasons, including:

• Enabling or suspending service for maintenance of a monitored system

• Enabling or suspending service for all customers in the Monitoring Policy’s target scope

This topic describes the following procedures:

• Enable - Activates a Monitoring Policy so that it can start monitoring its targets.

• Disable - Deactivates a Monitoring Policy so that it no longer monitors its targets.

To Enable a Policy, Template or Component

1. Navigate to the object's home report (for example, the Event Monitors report).

If You Are Enabling Multiple Objects

1. Ctrl-click to select the objects that you wish to enable.

2. Select the More > Enable option.

The display refreshes to the objects' home report, and displays their new Enabled/Disabled statuses.

If You Are Enabling a Single Object

1. Click on the object that you wish to make visible, then select the More > Enable option.

The display refreshes to the object's home report, and displays its new Enabled/Disabled status.

To Disable a Policy, Template or Component

1. Navigate to the object's home report (for example, the Event Monitors report).

If You Are Disabling Multiple Objects

1. Ctrl-click to select the objects that you wish to disable.

2. Select the More > Disable option

The display refreshes to the objects' home report, and displays their new Enabled/Disabled statuses.

If You Are Disabling a Single Object

1. Click on the object that you wish to make visible, then select the More > Disable option.
